OUR STORY

Buka Maranga Café is more than a café.

Our story began in 2007. As newlyweds, we took over this small neighbourhood spot, previously called The Buka Maranga Bean and Bagel Company [a nod to Bucaramanga—a Colombian city known for its passion for coffee and café culture]. With no restaurant experience but a lot of heart, we stepped out in faith, raising our children alongside the café and learning through seasons of uncertainty, resilience, and growth. We built the business while building our family, letting our kids grow up in the rhythms of the café—early mornings, shared meals, and a deepening love for serving others.

Over the years, we humbly continued to transform. The menu and space evolved, the community grew, and so did the vision. Now simplified to Buka Maranga Café and Catering, service has become the heartbeat of our space. What started as a café turned into a hive, a place to gather, reconnect, and be reminded of the goodness woven into ordinary moments. Every corner, every detail, and every cup is designed with intention—to bring warmth, beauty, and presence back into everyday life.

Now that we have entered a new chapter with dinner service and deeper experiences, Buka continues to grow. But our heart remains the same: for you to belong to a space where you matter, you’re welcome, and you belong.
